At the NEWMAN Bariatric Clinic, Dr. Antanas Mickevičius consults and treats adults who struggle with obesity and its accompanying diseases: diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea, joint pain. The clinic performs all the latest gastric reduction operations: laparoscopic gastric bypass, laparoscopic gastric sleeve, bikini line laparoscopic gastric sleeve, revisional gastric reduction operations.

The doctor completed his medical studies at Kaunas Medical Academy (currently Lithuanian University of Health Sciences). From 2000 to 2004, he was a doctoral student at the Kaunas Medical University Surgery Clinic. In 2004, he defended his thesis on the topic of surgical treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease. Since 2013 – professor of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, doctor of abdominal and obesity surgery, member of the Lithuanian Association of Surgeons, member of the European Society of Endoscopic Surgery, member of the International Association of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders Surgeons, since 2023 president of the Kaunas Region Surgeons’ Society.

Since 2000, while studying for a doctorate, Surgeon Antanas Mickevičius started to be interested in the diagnosis and treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, after summarizing the external results of surgical operations for the treatment of GERD, in 2004 he defended his doctoral thesis on this topic. The doctor published the results of his research in the international press, presented them at congresses in Italy, Poland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Japan, Australia, and the United Kingdom. He is recognized as one of the experts in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease not only in Lithuania, but also in the world, the results of his research are cited by European, Asian, and American scientists.

After Bariatric Surgeon Antanas Mickevičius has mastered all the most advanced stomach reduction operations, the absolute majority of operations are performed by using a minimally invasive (laparoscopic) method.

The qualification of a doctor and surgeon is confirmed by valid licenses of Lithuania, Sweden and the United Kingdom. The doctor regularly works at university hospitals in Lithuania and the United Kingdom.
